American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE): ASHRAE New Investigator Award

PURPOSE:
Annual award to enhance the careers of recent Ph.D. recipients, to promote research related to the goals of ASHRAE, and to promote ASHRAE-related educational efforts in universities and colleges.
FIELD OF STUDY:
Engineering and related fields, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related areas, such as indoor air quality, energy conservation, human comfort, and HVAC system design, operation and maintenance.
ELIGIBILITY:
Nomination by the chair or head of the academic department. Nominees must have received the Ph.D. degree within the last 5 years and be within 5 years of the start of their first full-time tenure-track faculty position. The awardee is expected to participate in ASHRAE meetings and to give a presentation of research findings to the organization.
AWARD:
Base grant of $15,000, plus up to $15,000 more on a matched dollar-for-dollar basis with industry contributions. The awardee may apply for support to complete the research project. The maximum support that may come from ASHRAE is $45,000.
