DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service): Research Grants for Recent Ph.D.s and Ph.D. Candidates

PURPOSE:
Annual program to enable scholars to carry out dissertation and postdoctoral research at German libraries, archives, institutes, or laboratories for a period of one to six months.
FIELD OF STUDY:
Open. Applicants must have a research project that requires a stay in Germany. Preference will be given to applicants who have been invited by a faculty member to study or to conduct research in a particular department, institute or laboratory.
ELIGIBILITY:
U.S. and Canadian citizens. Must be either a doctoral candidate no more than 32 years old or a scholar no more than 35 years old who received the Ph.D. degree no more than two years prior to the application deadline. The applicant's German language skills should be consistent with the scope of the project.
AWARD:
Monthly stipends, round-trip airfare, tuition, and fees plus health insurance coverage.
