Smithsonian Institution, Office of Fellowships: Graduate Student Fellowships

PURPOSE:
Annual program to allow graduate students to conduct independent research under the guidance of Smithsonian staff members for ten weeks.
FIELD OF STUDY:
Fields of study pursued by Smithsonian units, including animal behavior; anthropology; archaeology; archaeometry; astrophysics and astronomy; earth sciences and paleobiology; evolutionary and systematic biology; history of art; history of science and technology; folklife; and U.S. social and cultural history.
ELIGIBILITY:
Students registered in a graduate degree program and who have completed at least one full-time semester prior to the appointment period. Doctoral candidates are not eligible, normally. Fellows must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
AWARD:
A stipend of $3,700 for the ten-week period. There are no allowances for travel and research.
