Office of Fellowships: Postdoctoral Fellowships
- PURPOSE:
- Annual program to provide postdoctoral scholars an opportunity to
conduct research at the Smithsonian Institution for a period of 3 to 12
months.
- FIELD OF STUDY:
- Fields of study pursued by Smithsonian units, including animal
behavior; anthropology; archaeology; archaeometry; astrophysics and
astronomy; earth sciences and paleobiology; evolutionary and systematic
biology; history of art; history of science and technology; folklife;
and U.S. social and cultural history.
- ELIGIBILITY:
- Scholars who have been awarded the Ph.D. or equivalent degree
within the last seven years.
- AWARD:
- A stipend is provided at the rate of $30,000 per year. Allowances
are provided also for research and moving expenses. Financial support
is not provided for the dependents of fellows.
