Dr.
Majdalani's performance as a teacher may be assessed from the
student feedback that he has received since
1992. His average evaluation as a Teaching
Fellow at the University of Utah was 97.5%
(4.88/5.0, 6 courses). His teaching
evaluations at the University of Utah were the
key factor in being extended an appointment at Marquette University in
1996.
In his tenure at Marquette
University, his composite rating for 26
courses taught over seven years was 95.4% (4.77). He
thus received the Outstanding Teaching Award in Mechanical
Engineering in 1998 and 1999. In 2002–2003,
he received the NASA Higher Education Incentive Award.
At the University of Tennessee Space
Institute, his average rose
to 97.2% (4.86) in teaching effectiveness. In
2007, Dr. Majdalani received the Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award from
SAE International. Dr. Majdalani's teaching style is strongly inspired by that of his mentor, Prof. William K. Van Moorhem who, in his opinion, was “the greatest teacher he ever had.”
