    2. Dr. Roy Hartfield, Dr. Majdalani's nominee, is selected for the 2022 AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Award.This is a consummate national award of the highest prestige.  Dr. Hartfield will deliver a plenary lecture at the AIAA 2023 Aviation Conference in San Diego in conjunction with the reception of this award. Citation: For his development of fast and practical predictive approaches to the problem of aerodynamic analysis of air vehicles at both conceptual and preliminary design stages

    3. Dr. Majdalani's nominee, Dr.-Ing. Helmut Ciezki (Coordinator of Advanced Propellants and Propulsion Systems, DLR – German Aerospace Center; Institute of Space Propulsion) is elevated to the AIAA Fellow rank, class of 2023.     14. Dr. Paul Kovacic (Auburn Alumnus) receives the Huntsville Association of Technical Societies (HATS) Young Professional of the Year (YPOY) Award. Citation: Paul has actively served the local AIAA chapter through involvement in outreach activities such as STEAMfest and the Rocket City Quiz Bowl, and in the workplace, he has worked diligently on several DOD contracts, improving both process efficiency and reliability of Monte Carlo simulations related to lethality engineering May 22, 2022

Citation: In the current year, Lisa Mitchell has excelled in the workplace by leading a team of high performing engineers that support major NASA projects like Space Launch Systems, Human Landing System, Mars Ascent Vehicle, and Commercial Crew Program, excelled in the community by helping the start up of Grow Young Minds Program and excelled in the AIAA by symbolizing its purpose to ignite and celebrate aerospace ingenuity and collaboration in the Greater Huntsville Community.     23. Tharikaa Ramesh Kumar, Dr. Majdalani's advisee, receives the 2021 Alabama Power Above and Beyond Award conferred by the Auburn Alabama Power Program November 19, 2021

    24. Dr. Roy Hartfield, Dr. Majdalani's nominee, is elevated to the ASME Fellow rank, class of 2021. Citation: Dr. Hartfield has substantially contributed to the engineering profession for over 30 years in education, scholarship, and service. His sustained efforts with his doctoral students have resulted in the successful development of fast and practical approaches to the problem of subsonic flow and aerodynamic analysis of air vehicles at both conceptual and preliminary design stages. Moreover, his contributions to the design and optimization of mechanical and aerospace engineering systems have been significant, extending from the invention of a new positive displacement rotary vane engine, and a constant torque propeller mechanism, to new concepts in missile systems and air vehicle configurations.

    25. Dr. Trevor S. Elliott (former Ph.D. student and, now, Associate Professor with Tenure at the University of Tennessee) receives the SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award.

    26. Dr. Majdalani's nominee, Ret. Col. Richard (Rick) Tuggle from the Greater Huntsville Section is elevated to the AIAA Associate Fellow rank. Citation: For his significant contributions to our nation’s cybersecurity and missile defense programs and recent contribution to ethics and emerging military technology.

    27. Dr. Majdalani's nominee, George Story from the Greater Huntsville Section is elevated to the AIAA Associate Fellow rank. Citation: For noteworthy contributions to chemical propulsion systems and processes, rocket failure investigations, contract management, and hybrid rocket developments.

    28. Dr. Majdalani's nominee, Dr. Filippo Maggi is elevated to the AIAA Associate Fellow rank. Citation: For his continuing action in transferring solid professional foundations, inspirational research, and innovation value to new generations of aerospace engineering students.

    29. Dr. Majdalani's nominee, Dr. Keiichi Hori is elevated to the AIAA Associate Fellow rank. Citation: For noteworthy contributions to rocket propellant development including substantial innovations in green and hybrid propulsion and propellant combustion research.

    30. Dr. Majdalani's nominee, Dr. Constans (Onno) Verberne is elevated to the AIAA Associate Fellow rank. Citation: For noteworthy contributions to solid and hybrid rocket propulsion systems, including a plethora of successful hydrogen-peroxide-based hybrid propellant developments for microlauncher applications.

    111. Professor Majdalani wins the 2014 Konrad Dannenberg Educator of the Year Award.  This Greater Huntsville Section Award recognizes a Section member for outstanding service to education and promotion of math and science within the community. The award is named in recognition of Konrad Dannenberg, a German-American rocket pioneer who was an avid proponent of education, an active member of the AIAA, and an inspiration to the aerospace community. In 1960, Dannenberg joined NASA's newly established Marshall Space Flight Center as Deputy Manager of the Saturn program. He received the NASA Exceptional Service Medal in 1973 for successfully initiating development of the largest rocket ever built, the Saturn V, which took the first human beings to the moon. When Arthur Rudolph came back from the army's development of the Pershing missile system, Braun assigned the management of the Saturn system to him. Dannenberg then started to work on Saturn-based space stations, which were eventually replaced by the Space Shuttle-based ISS.  Dannenberg retired from the Marshall Space Flight Center in 1973 and became an Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) in Tullahoma, Tennessee June 6, 2014
